We reached out to some partners to triple check our facts and at least one part didn't hold up; we fixed that bit, and re-uploded. The Keto diet fad is something we've been wanting to cover for a while, but there's not actually a lot of empirical science around it. In our research, we focus on scholarly sources and studies, and avoid citing blogs or single professional opinions. In this case, we ran the script by a biologist and some doctors, and each had varying opinions on the food program itself. In the end, we think the video is in a good place and we thank you for your comments. This is a big reminder that myself and my team do read the comment section, and we do everything we can to put out accurate videos just for you. Keep doing what you're doing!

  2. I wonder if anyone ever mentions how you can’t generalize nutrition. Some people will have more success with fat in their diet than others. Those with the APOE4 gene variant can’t tolerate fat in their diets the way those with APOE3 gene variants who can eat moderate amounts of fat and those with APOE2 gene variants can eat a lot more fat without any issues? Those with APOE4 tend to have higher cholesterol and later on in life are more at risk for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. People with type 1 diabetes, for example, can’t thrive on a high carb diet such as mostly fruits because it spikes their blood sugar they would need to take an insane amount of insulin to counteract the constant hyperglycemia. A type 1 diabetic can’t survive on a no carb diet either because they need to eat carbs when they’re experiencing a hypoglycemia to raise their blood sugar. I never hear anyone mention variables like these.

    #1 Keto is a fad diet. Nope. Its the original human diet throughout almost our entire evolution. Carbo loaded diets are new to humanity (hence all the health problems caused by carb loading)
    #2 recommended to eat bacon everyday. Actually its recommended to not eat bacon AT ALL since its insanely high in salt
    #3 eat only three leaves of lettuce OR a tomato. WRONG you should be eating mostly vegis. at least 50% of your diet should be vegis! AT LEAST 75% is ideal!
    #4 people see keto diet as a way to cut out carbs to ultimately cut out fat. Wrong! People eat keto to cut out cancer causing garbage and to reduce inflammation and help with their ailments (many ailments caused by excess consumption of carbs by the way). most of the carbs people eat are trash processed carbs. Keto is to get rid of processed garbage and eat more naturally. There is a reason overloading on carbs causes internal inflammation and its not good!
    #5 carbs make up 50% of a balanced diet. No wrong, carbs should not be more than 25% even for non-keto everyday diets. any more is overloading and dangerous. 50% of your diet should be plants! 25% carbs 25% meats.
    #6 eating few fruits and vegis has been linked to ill health. Thats true but whats that have to do with keto diet again? keto doesnt mean low vegis. for fucks sake.
    #7 people experience nasua and other ailments. True, but thats not from the keto diet, thats from the sickly carb loaded diet your body is programmed to and you are literally having withdrawals from sugar addiction like a crack head.

  21. WOW, this video is very anti-keto "my arteries hurt". Your brain can be fueled up to70% from keto. Starvation??? Dangerous??? BULLSHIT !!! FACT: the are essential proteins and essential fats but there are NO essential carbohydrates – NADA NONE ZIP ZILCH because your liver can make the few carbs it needs all on its own without you having to eat any of them. The process is called gluconeogenesis – literally meaning 'make new glucose'. Before you make a video decrying keto and calling it a ''fad' – you should study up and understand exactly what it is, how it works, and why it works, – that way you won't look like TOTALLY IGNORANT.

  24. I'm biology prof. I've stumbled upon a few of your videos in the past and have consistently been frustrated by the content. This video, however, is the worst yet (I'm glad I didn't see it before it was "fixed"). Starvation ketosis and nutritional ketosis are NOT the same. The misinformation presented here is atrocious.
